Ants Lift and March

I am learning about ants at school. I learned that they walk and walk, dig and dig, and lift and lift. They work together as a team. They also can bite people, so look out for ants!

My mom found this fun and interactive site about ants.

Here's a video from National Geographic about ants. I liked this one.

What can ants do?
Where do they live?
What do you know about ants?
I wrote this post for the Student Blogging Challenge #4.

    1. Hi Trevor,

I am not so much learning about ants anymore, but it was from a book I read. I am now learning about bats. This is what I know about bats, they can hang upside down by their feet. I know there are lots of different kinds of bats. One bat eats fruit. Another bat, the baby brown bat, sleeps in a tree. The bats eat mosquitoes. One bat is different, the vampire one, and it eats blood. So, what are you learning about? Do you know more about bats or ants?

  2. Hi Em,
I am participating as a mentor in the Blogging Challenge. Currently, I am an ESL teacher at an international school in Quito, Ecuador.

I love what you wrote about ants. When I taught grade 2's in Canada, we studied small crawling and flying animals; ants were a favorite! Have you ever seen an ant carrying something? It is quite impressive. Next time you're at the park take a look around to see if you can find some ants. You'll be surprised at how busy they are and how much they can lift. It is truly amazing! Keep blogging!

    1. Hi Ms. Waingort,

I have have seen two ants holding food. The food was small, about the same size as the ant. One was a black on holding green food, a part of a leaf. The other time I saw a red ant, and it was holding meat, I think.

I am going to look at the map to find where Ecuador is. Is it pretty there? I live in the USA, and it's beautiful. Where I live there are lots of animals and cacti.

    2. Hi Em,
Ecuador is in South America, north of Peru and south of Colombia. Yes, it is very pretty here. We have mountains, beaches, and the Galapagos Islands. Maybe you can visit one day. I have lived in the US in very beautiful cities - San Francisco, NY, New Orleans, to name a few.
      Cheers!
